Im Back

Hi!!! So sorry, I know it's been like a month since i last posted. Anyways, I just got home to Steamboat for the holidays, It's currently 6:00 AM and I'm sitting with Bryan because he insisted on watching Iron Man... pleasant morning. After being stuck in the Chicago airport for most of Friday, somehow watching Iron Man for breakfast doesn't seem so bad. Anyways,I'll be here until the beginning of January when I'll go to New York for my BFF ALycIas Birthday, then I'll fly to the Bahamas where my boat takes off! So i'll update till then, CIAO!

Strasbourg!

This weekend I visited my old soccer bud Haley in Strasbourg...Northern France, Practically Germany. It was super cute, kind of village like and Really COLD! We went on a boat tour on the river that runs through the city, and I also got to experience being in my first lock! (i think that's how you spell it) Anyways, it was really beautiful and nice to see haley and hang out with her not so artsy friends! We went to a Rosell concert, who knew a well known hip hop artist would ever make an appearance in Strasbourg France! I took the train for the first time since I've been here and it only took about 2 hours, It's so much easier than flying. Anyways, take a look at my pix and see for yourself!!

Busy In Paris

My roommate raeana and I got a phone call last Thursday evening asking us if we wanted to go to the ballet at the Opera House...DUH!!!! We went to the ballet which was awesome, but the best part of the whole thing was the building... It was gorgeous! As it was the night before halloween, Raeana and I were appalled that they wouldnt have a masquerade ball for halloween, it was the perfect spot! Anyways, one day if I end up living in Paris as a designer with a little more credibility I'll purpose the idea.
Anyways, the ballet was great, and then friday night we celebrated halloween, but NONE of the French people dressed up! I think it has to do with them hating americans, but everyone else dressed up and had a super fun time... There was no trick-or-treating, but it was fun to see everyone's costumes, they're more about dressing up scary here than anything else. So I was having one hell of a time deciding what I wanted to dress up as, and seeing as how there are no Halloween stores ( i miss Ricky's NY!) I had to throw something together myself, I decided to be catwoman because American Apparel has a whole line of Shiney faux patent leather clothes out! I think they say if you have lemons make lemon-aide... well that's what I did, and I had the most awesome costume!!! oh, and it was my friends birthday this weekend so we went out for American Breakfast, OMG!!!! it was the best thing I've eaten since i've been here, and I've also figured out why Parisiens are so skinny... the food is super boring. Yes they have some delicious dishes, but nothing compares to blueberry pancakes and some overly greasy crunchy slabs of bacon!!
I also had a friend from home in town this weekend which was fun because I havent seen any of my really good friends in so long!
School is still crazy!!!! I went to bed at 5 yesterday morning which is probably why im still a little dilerious, I have to make a tailored jacket and pants by Thursday, AHHH! It's finally out of real material though which is really exciting. I'll post the pictures when I find my Cord to upload all my Photos... it couldnt have gone far I live in a cube like 20 square ft.
OH!!!! and before I forget, I've descovered a new show!!!! well, I didnt exactly discover it, my friend Kirsten did, and if you watch it you'll probably stop having any desire to communicate or even think about the outside world and anyone in it because it's so addicting!! Prison Break, the first episode is a little slow but after that it's AMAZING... and it helps a little that the main character is perfection... you'll see what I mean if you watch it.
Anyways, Catch up soon and I'll post my pix asap!!! Oh and I threw some more of my work up that i was unable to upload last time.... i''ll probably do it from time to time so dont be confused

School School School

So I haven't blogged in forever because finally i got swamped with school work!! But it's all good now... TGIF. Anyways, I've decided to put some of my work up so that you can check out what I've been up to all this time! I just have a few sketches and assignments. Right now we're making jackets out of REAL FABRIC finally, it's our first time in school not making something out of muslin. We usually dont get all the way to the fabric stage... bad news is that I've been spending all my money on supplies because Parson's-Paris doesn't supply anything. So as soon as I finish the jacket I'll let ya know! Today I turned in the three japanese figures for concepts, it was a drawing contest, we had to use deconstructed jeans and tee shirts to make a 3 piece collection, I used Rivets for the dress and the accessories!!!

Well I figured I'd let everyone know what was going on, I'd ramble on some more, but it's time for Greys Anatomy!

Barcelona in October

I have still yet to sleep in the last 36 hours, but I wanted to post my Barcelona trip because it's still Fresh!! So... I got home at 11 AM today after leaving Barcelona at 3 AM last night. It ended up being a long trip because Ryan Air(cheap airfare throughout europe) doesn't fly into airports closer than 1 hour outside of each major city. That info would have been helpful before I booked my trip from Paris to Barcelona... Anyways, my friend Lauren who goes to Parsons with me and I went to meet up with Haley (sOccer FaMily meMbeR) and her friends from College who are studying all over the E.U. It was super awesome to finally be able to understand a little bit of what is going on around me because of the language... I'm still mixing everything up though. We stayed at this super cute hostel that had graffiti from floor to ceiling and was jam packed with traveling students from all corners. One thing you should know before visiting Barcelona is that the city is basically a shrine to Antonio Gaudi, he's a famous architect who designed almost half the city. We saw everything that we could possibly fit into two days,

SAGRADA FAMILIA~Church designed by Gaudi that has been under construction for decades, and isn't projected to be complete for at least another 30 years. The view was unbelievable!!!!!
PLACA DE CATALUNYA~Plaza with fountains and statues, it was really cute...tons of people!
LA BARCELONITA~the Beach of course!!!
PARK GUELL~ Park designed by Gaudi, seriously amazing...lots of mosaic, I felt like I was in Candyland with the nutty buildings
GAUDI MUSEUM~ Appartment building designed by Gaudi. ( If you saw Vicky Christina Barcelona, it shows up in the film)

AND lots of other cool fun places, we walked everywhere...

I was really bummed to leave, it's much more charming than Paris and New York, and what more could you ask for a city on the beach!!?? I'll definitely be returning to B-town sometime in my life...it's a def. must see so mark it on your list!

It was cool to see Haley because it's always nice to see someone from home, comforting I guess. There were a bunch of girls from her sorority there as well though... REMIND ME NEVER TO JOIN ONE OF THOSE! it's like middle school intensified by like 30 but with more plastic and longer nails. KARMA...that's all I am going to say. Sorry Haley, you know I love ya. Anyways, we went out and had a blast for the weekend...I hope we can do it again sometime while I'm here!

Anyways i'll shut my big mouth now and finally get some sleep!!! ADIOS

Fashion Week!

This past week was fashion week in Paris and my school gave us tickets to a few shows! It was so so so cool because I have never been able to go in NYC because it's a lot more difficult to get into...actually it's possible to not know that it is fashion week in Paris, a bit different than in NY! Paris fashion week is in parking garages among many other random places, and a lot more discrete. The shows that we went to were pretty great though, and I hate to say it but the music was the best part!
Anyways, KYLE got here last wednesday and we've just finally met up yesterday. Definitely in need of a Steamboat Face! We had a good time though... showed him my school, went to Le Bon Marche and had croque madame!! My absolute favorite French dish by the way (other than crepes of course!). Anyways we had a pretty fabulous Saturday.
As most people know, if they know me at all, I have a pretty serious case of the spills... I'm making a white dress for class and Drinking a cup of coffee as usual, and sure enough I spilled the ENTIRE contents of my cup on the white dress! Typical. So I'm going to use today to try and dye my dress a color other than coffee stain brown, catch ya later!

Eurodisney

Hello!
On Saturday some friends and I went to visit Eurodisney outside of Paris! I've never even been to Disney Land in the U.S. so it was really exciting! I wanted to live there, I felt like a little kid seriously. We saw mini and mickey-mouse, Jesse from Toy-Story, Jack Sparrow, Jasmine and Aladdin and a bunch more, so cool!!! Oh and all the rides and things were in English thank god because otherwise we would have been a little lost. We ate Mickey shaped cheese burgers at lunch and I had the BEST popcorn I've EVER had!!!(even beats caramel corn mom...better believe it!) My absolute favorite part was the Pirates of the Caribbean Ride, it was soooooooooooooooooo awesome, first you are on a boat. You get to see the pirate village and the caverns while going down waterfalls and through the ocean...SO GREAT! I think that EVERY child has to see Disney, and if they don't than consider them deprived because it's really MAGICAL(i dont have any other words to describe it). I also picked up some souvenirs because I think we are going to try to go back at Halloween and wear our costumes because Halloween isn't big in Europe...Disney is the only place that celebrates! OUTRAGE! So a lot of my friends are from like the UK, Turkey and Greece...etc, and we're going to have a costume party, so they can have their very first Halloween and I dont have to miss my favorite holiday!!(other than christmas because who's all time favorite holiday isn't christmas, honestly?) ANyways, I picked up some monster teeth and mini-mouse ears, I'm keeping my costume options open.
While I'm posting I might as well update ya on school...Super fun, I really like my teachers! and good thing is that we are freer (word?) to do what we want. KNITTING is still my favorite, but the problem is that it gets to be a bit expensive because you'd think that knitting you're own scarf is cheaper than buying but in actuality the yarn costs more than the actual scarf sometimes. Vicious I know, but I'm still making some pretty cool scarfs and things. All together school is much more easy going than NY but I expected that. But as a result I like my work more because I get to spend more time on it.
Let you know when I go on my next adventure...xoxo

Versailles!

On Saturday we ventured to Versailles, it's only like 20 minutes on the train so we spent our time wisely and practiced knitting for out knitting and knotting class which is my favorite! On the way we needed to use the restroom so we went in the nicest Mcdonalds I've ever seen in my life! It had a bakery and there were people on dates there I swear, check out the picture. We saw the museum in the Palace and the gardens. Gardens were definitely my fav! It was really really beautiful, and we had the most hilarious little french costume designing tour guide! The palace was cool and they had installed Koontz modern art all throughout which was a little strange, but I'm not a fan of modern art so maybe others thought it was brilliant. The them of the installation was balloon animals made of metallic metal. Who knows... Anyways, you can take row boats around the ponds, and the gardens take up a space like the state of Rhode Island so we didn't quite get to catch everything but we saw what we could. We could have rented a golf cart for like 30 euro because everyone knows I have extensive experience driving them after this summer at the Sheraton, but my friend Raeana was pretty certain that a drivers license was needed to get one so we kept our money and put on our walking shoes.haha! It's definitely worth going though, especially cuz we learned so much about louisXIV and Marie Antoinette in costume history. Keep you posted!

SOCCER GAME!

My first futbol game! A couple of friends from St. Johns and I went to a soccer game on Sunday night. It was insane! Never been to anything like it, crazier than any football or baseball game I've ever been to, CRAZIER than WWC98! Everyone was shouting and screaming the entire time, people had flares and drums, so fun! Anyways, I'll definitely be going again while I'm here! Check out the video. oh, and ROB you are living in the wrong country! Bijou Bijou!
